Marketing Director, Cine Products, Seth Emmons answers a few questions about CW Sonderoptic's first year with at booth at IBC and the newest Leica Cine optics they plan to showcase.
Q What are you most excited to see at IBC 2016?
A This will be our first year with our own booth, so as a manufacturer we’re most excited to see our customers and potential customers. For us some of the best conversations come from people who have built their own business and worked their way up the equipment ladder, starting with still photography cameras and lenses and moving into professional cinema gear. They have great stories and are in need of real solutions as well.
Q What new products/services is your company showcasing this year?
A CW Sonderoptic will be showing the newest Leica Cine optics, including the Cine MacroLux that is one of the more creative options for cinematographers to work with existing lenses in a variety of ways. We’re also showing our expanding line of Leica Summicron-C lenses which will soon be up to 11 focal lengths.
Q What are some upcoming/popular trends from the world of broadcast and content creation that you think might make a big impact at the show?
A The big trends we see now are larger sensor/higher resolution cameras as well as camera movement tools. Both trends require new optical solutions, although sometimes diametrically opposed solutions. Larger sensors need larger lenses whereas drones and gimbals need smaller lenses.
Q Any events you're particularly excited about attending/throwing at the show? Which ones?
A There are so many good restaurants in Amsterdam. We really enjoy smaller, more intimate dinners with customers and end users. It’s a great way to connect and learn more from them while enjoying some great food.
Q How do you constantly reinvent yourself at IBC each year?
A As this is our first year with our own booth we haven’t had the problem yet. Check back next year. :)
Q How are you planning to make this year's IBC the best yet?
A We’re going to be there with a great team and some fun, new products.
