Carl Walter Holst, CEO, Appear TV, talks how Appear TV will be focusing on enhanced video streaming portfolio this year, displaying the new X20 10G secure video firewall, and more.
Q What are you most excited to see at IBC 2016?
A Like every year, I’m primarily excited to showcase our new solutions. It’s been a year, and Appear TV is once again bringing industry-leading equipment to the exhibition floor. Speaking to customers is always as a good thing as far as I am concerned, so I am particularly looking forward to doing more of that, especially to receive initial feedback on some of the exciting new products we are bringing.
Q What new products/services is your company showcasing this year?
A We’ll be focusing on our enhanced video streaming portfolio this year, combining our ABR Packager with our offline encoding solution. Additionally, the new X20 10G Secure Video Firewall will be on display, enabling ultra-high- speed video networking. Like previous years, our complete modular hot-swappable ecosystem covering everything from reception (IP, ASI, DVB-C, DVB-T/T2, 8VSB and ISDB-T), encoding, transcoding, descrambling, re-scrambling, multiplexing and transmission (IP, ASI, DVB-C, DVB-T/T2 and DVB-S/S2) will be on display.
Q What are some upcoming/popular trends from the world of broadcast and content creation that you think might make a big impact at the show?
A The transition towards 4K is a hot topic. Our X20 Video Firewall will support both uncompressed and compressed transportation of among other UHD signals. The shift towards OTT is also still at the forefront of people’s minds, of course.
Q Any events you're particularly excited about attending/throwing at the show? Which ones?
A Appear TV is bringing Disco back with our Disco Fever stand party on Saturday. Dust off your platform shoes and bring corduroy, it’s going to be one for the books!
Q How are you planning to make this year's IBC the best yet?
A We’re at the same stand number as always - 1.C61, but with a new design and even more products at display. I think we’re going to stand out from a not only an aesthetic perspective, but more importantly because we have a lot to show from a technological perspective as well.
