Sound Devices Displays PIX-E Series Recording Monitors & More at IBC2016

Paul Isaacs, Director of Product Management and Design, Sound Devices, LLC talks about Video Devices PIX-E Series recording monitors and more at IBC2016.

Q What are you most excited to see at IBC 2016?

A As always with IBC, we’re very excited to interact with our customers, both new and existing, and showcase the latest products we have available. We’re also really excited to show the new H.264 codec capabilities of our PIX-E Series 4K recording monitors, which allow you to simultaneously record a high-quality, edit-ready Apple® ProRes file and a more compact H.264 MP4 file.

Q What new products/services is your company showcasing this year?

A We will be showcasing a range of our audio and video solutions at this year’s show. This includes our complete line of Video Devices PIX-E Series recording monitors (PIX-E7, PIX-5, and PIX-E5H) as well as the PIX-LR audio interface and SpeedDrive file enclosure. On the audio side, we will be featuring the latest features of the 688 mixer/recorder, which now has Dugan automixing capabilities to automatically attenuate inactive input levels and maintain consistent background levels, regardless of the number of open mics. The 688’s accessories, including the SL-6 wireless and powering system with its latest RF Scan feature as well as the CL-12 linear fader controller, will also be on display.

Q What are some upcoming/popular trends from the world of broadcast and content creation that you think might make a big impact at the show?

A VoIP (Video over IP) is the next best thing for production, as it has some of the same benefits of AoIP in terms of cost efficiencies with less cables and having a more streamlined workflow.

Q Any events you're particularly excited about attending/throwing at the show? Which ones?

A Nothing in particular this year; I will mainly be at the booth doing product demos.

Q How do you constantly reinvent yourself at IBC each year?

A I wouldn’t say that we reinvent ourselves at IBC each year, but post-show definitely puts us on the next path to further develop innovative products for our customers.

Q How are you planning to make this year's IBC the best yet?

A We are always trying to outdo ourselves every year in terms of what we bring to IBC and our goal is to continue to connect with our customers to understand their needs, which in turn helps our team in the creation of innovative technologies. This year we will have an updated booth display and are also planning to have customer videos of our high-profile PIX-E users streaming at the booth that will give attendees inside information on how these customers are using our products.
