Will Waters, Director of Product Marketing for NewTek, answers a few questions about what he expects to see at the show and what to expect from NewTek.
Q What are you showcasing at IBC this year?
A This year NewTek will be showcasing an all-IP end-to-end live production workflow. From acquiring and connecting live video, to producing and switching, enhancing with graphics and replay, to delivery and distribution over IP. As part of this showcase, NewTek will demonstrate the world’s first NDI® PTZ camera, software-driven live production with the TriCaster® TC1 and IP Series production systems and delivering to an audience with MediaDS™, a media distribution product in partnership with Wowza. All this is made possible with NDI®, the IP protocol for live production that has become a de facto industry standard for sharing video over standard Ethernet networks.
Q Any particular themes you think will occur at the show?
A We will continue to see more information and more vendors talking about the move to IP in live production. There are so many advantages to producing live video on IP networks, that more and more attendees and vendors will be looking to take advantage and how they can fit the transition into their roadmaps and budget schedules. While that trend keeps pushing forward, there are still those that see IP as costly and with a big barrier to entry. Those objections will continue to disappear and more devices and workflows are demonstrated to be viable in production.
Q What's "hot" right now that you think will make a big impact at the show?
A The hot topics are of course the move to IP and what to do about UHD video. NewTek has brought to market software-driven production products that take advantage of IP networks in place today and in doing so, deliver a reasonable path to UHD production.
Q Any specific events/booths you're excited to visit?
A I am of course excited to be at the NewTek booth in Hall 7. We will have great products and technology on display, but maybe the most exciting thing about Hall 7 is the food stand directly behind the NewTek booth. They have a meatball sandwich. I think it is called "broodje bal" in Dutch. That may be the thing I look forward to most at IBC every year.
Q How is your company reinventing itself at the show this year?
A NewTek is a company that is always innovating. This year we are excited to be coming to the show with a new booth design, new presentations, and coming to IBC with the first end-to-end IP live production workflow. NDI® version 3.0 will also be on display demonstrating major enhancements to the most widely adopted IP video standard in the industry.
Q Where can people find more information about you?
