An interview from the 2017 International Broadcasting Convention in Amsterdam with Paul Atkinson of Canon Europe. Canon manufactures their Cinema EOS Line of compact, modular cameras designed specifically for cinematography applications, featuring Canon's unique Super 35mm CMOS sensor, revolutionary Canon DIGIC Image Processor, and 50Mbps 4:2:2 recording, in PL and EF-mount options. In this interview Paul showcases for the first time, the Canon XF405 4K Internal Camcorder.
The XF405 Professional Camcorder offers an outstanding combination of 4K UHD image quality, features and functionality in a compact portable design ideally suited for on-the-go Electronic News Gathering (ENG) and documentary production. Featuring a 1.0-inch 4K UHD CMOS image sensor and dual DIGIC DV 6 Image Processors, the XF405 records in MP4 format to dual SD card slots. The camcorder is capable of recording 4K UHD video at 60p, as well as slow motion recording up to 120fps in Full HD. A 15x optical zoom lens maintains 4K UHD quality throughout the entire zoom range, while the camcorder's Dual Pixel CMOS AF helps facilitate fast and accurate autofocus.
The Canon XF405 includes an HDMI 2.0 terminal with 4K UHD output support, two XLR terminals with independent audio level control and a 3G-SDI output that supports camcorder integration into professional workflows. An adjustable 3.5-inch touch panel LCD monitor and a built-in 0.24-inch electronic viewfinder enhance usability, and the detachable handle helps the XF405 to operate in a variety of shooting situations. Designed to meet the needs of professionals, the XF405 offers a wide range of recording possibilities.
